Why we overvalue the “Why” and how to get to the real point
Asking “why” is our default mode as humans.
But is it just a distraction?
“Why” often leads us down a rabbit hole of false explanations that only scratch the surface of the issue at hand.
So how do you get to the real point?
Ask “how”.
“How” questions invite action and solutions.
– How can we make this better?
– How can I help?
– How did we get here?
– How can we prevent this in the future?
These questions help us understand the situation and move towards a solution.
As a leader, focus less on the “why” and more on the “how”. That’s how you achieve real progress.
